ALONG A LAZY RIVER SATUCKET AREA: A GREAT SUMMER DESTINATION FOR NATURE LOVERS

Most of our inland waters are frustratingly inaccessible to the foot traveler. Humanity’s private properties block the ponds, and nature’s marshy holdings guard the rivers. But here and there we may directly approach the waters to which we are so mysteriously drawn. The Phillips Wildlife Area in East Bridgewater is such a place. Flowing along and shaping its northern boundary is the feature in question — the Satucket River. Together with the forest bordering its southern bank, it is an attractive summertime destination full of birds, painted turtles and a scenic picnic spot or two. Read more…
