SUMMER’S HOT DESTINATIONS: EUROPE, DISNEY
School’s almost out and if you’re not planning a vacation, you’re wishing you had a vacation coming up or you’re complaining you can’t afford a vacation. This summer travel agents say Europe’s hot. “Every other year it’s cruises or Europe and this summer it’s Europe,” says Mary Ellen Crowley at Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens.
Gail Barofsky at Sunrise Travel in downtown West Palm Beach says, “We’ve booked a lot of people into London because the Laker flights are very, very reasonable. Ireland’s busy every summer. France and Italy, Spain are standards.”
For domestic road warriors, Rena Callahan at the American Automobile Association’s Orlando headquarters said a recent survey of the more than 90 AAA offices around the country places Orlando as the No. 1 family vacation destination. “Disney is a big destination from all over the country because of the 25th anniversary,” added Callahan.
The other four: Anaheim/Los Angeles; Williamsburg, Va.; Jackson, N.J.; Grand Canyon. For travel other than by car, the AAA top destinations: Orlando; Las Vegas; Hawaii; Caribbean.
No matter where you go, when you return, please remember the golden rule of vacations: No one, but no one, wants to see your vacation slides, snapshots or video, unless you went to a nudist camp.
